Travis Gravley was born to Christian parents in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania. About the age of five, after hearing the gospel presented at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Travis asked his parents if he could be saved. They gladly led him to receive Christ. Though he struggled with doubting his salvation, as a teenager he claimed 1 John 5:13 which gave him assurance of his faith in Christ.
As a young child Becky was constantly surrounded with Christians. Becky was four years old when her parents hosted a Good News Club. Here she learned of the “Lost Sheep” taken from Isaiah 53:6. She understood that she was a sinner in need of a Savior. She listened as the teacher explained that the sin of the entire world was laid on Jesus Christ. Becky knelt with her brother in the family room of their home and prayed to receive Jesus as her Savior.
Becky continued her formal education at Bob Jones University studying elementary education with a music minor. In May of 2000, Travis graduated from Northland Baptist Bible College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Youth Ministries. He went on to earn a Master of Divinity from Central Baptist Theological Seminary of Virginia Beach, Virginia in 2005.
After completing her college education, Becky taught for three years at Blair County Christian School in Duncansville, Pennsylvania. While teaching, she was introduced to Travis Gravley. The Lord worked in their lives to begin a dating relationship which eventually led to marriage in 2000. Since then, their family has grown through the birth of their son, Samuel in 2004, and daughter, Kara, in 2007.
Through an overall emphasis on missions at Northland, the Lord began to impress the need on Travis. Finally, during special campus meetings in the Fall of 1999, the Holy Spirit made it clear that Travis should be a missionary on the foreign field. The call to missionary service in Becky’s life has been a gradual one. Over the several years attending Colonial Baptist Church in Virginia Beach, Virginia, she met many missionaries who shared candidly and with great excitement their burden for lost souls in various parts of the world. After a month-long missions trip to Ukraine as part of a hand bell choir, Travis and Becky began to see their gifts and talents as a great match for the needs of the people of Eastern Europe. As time went by, the Lord began to focus their hearts on the people of Romania.
